Kia Ora everyone,
Last year I was able to sit with the one and only Dr Shane Reti. He started off by talking about how honoured he was to be chosen as the deputy leader of the National party. Shane told me why he became an mp, was because he was called to come back to New Zealand from Harvard to become the MP for Whangārei and use his skills.
In the interview, Shane and I talked about all things mainly covid19. I asked him what he thinks the government should have done better his response to the question was that he thinks the government should bring in pre- border testing and the government did on 7/01/2021. One of the things I found interesting was what he said the National Party offer younger voters. This being that the National Party have a great vision to use your skills in the workplaces, they have clear views on their social responsible They also understand all their responsibility for us to be the government for New Zealand.
He made a really good point about the climate change emergency- that it’s only going to work if we all play our part and help to help with the climate change emergency. With the decision of borders being opened to Australia, he believes that when it’s safe they should be open.
Shane is really passionate about the younger generation getting involved in politics cause they are our future. His plans for this parliament term is to keep the government Accountable. As his role of the deputy National Party leader. My favourite part of our interview was when he told me which MP he would swap lives with. To my surprise, it was the Hon Kris Faafoi because he loves his spirit and thinks that he’s a really good guy!
Thank you so much for reading my blog post have a great night
