Kia Ora all,

Sorry for the late blog post. It has been a crazy week. At the end of last year, I was able to interview Labours youngest MP Naisi Chen. The real story of why she got into politics was because she was asked to become an MP by the Labour Party. She never thought she would become an MP. This was one of her lightbulb moments when she released she could make an impact in New Zealand and it was her turn to use her voice to help change it.

She thinks that the youth need to get into politics. As this is going to make a massive impact on us. She thinks the reason why the youth don’t get involved is that it doesn’t seem as appealing as other things. She then said the way that we could get youth into politics is by teaching it in schools and putting better effort into getting it to our youth involved. With her being the youngest MP in the Labour party, She loves being able to be the young voice of the Labour Party.

She sometimes finds it very hard not being born in New Zealand, As her parents don’t really talk or know anything about New Zealand Politics. But this has opened her eyes to the world and being able to bring her experiences to the table. She believes that New Zealand’s voting age should be lowered by 16, She says this with two points being she thinks young people are very responsible and they would vote. She also sees it in a migrant system and they know more about it and can help their parents.

With the final question about which MP she would swap with she choose Joseph Mooney as he is the MP for Queenstown and she loves it down there and thinks it’s amazing and would be nice to have an office there.

Well, I hope you enjoy this blog post, My next one will be up on Sunday and is with our first journalist Jessica Mutch McKay. Have a great weekend all!
