This week I had the honour to interview my very own Hutt South MP, Ginny Andersen. We met over a video chat and I got to ask her a range of questions to get to know her

Ginny has the biggest heart for the Hutt South electorate, she has shown that by doing everything she could to win the seat. I was lucky enough to join her in helping with the campaign, she has shown that losing a seat doesn't make you a sore loser but makes you a better competitor.

I asked Ginny what her dreams were in High School, she said - I enjoyed drama and acting, so she would have wanted to have done something along those lines. She always loved writing so one of her dreams would have been to become a journalist.

Another question I asked was - What was the one thing that really motivated you to get into politics and how did you get into politics?

Her response was that she always had a heart for politics, and after seeing all the inspiring women in her life. This had a really big impact on her life. She got into politics by helping Chris Hipkins on his campaign. And that's kinda how she started.

I asked her was What has been your biggest struggle with politics and how has it affected you, has it made you wiser or a better leader?

Ginny said one of her biggest struggles is balancing parenting and politics because you are always on call. You always have to try to do your best every day to multitask. This is also another reason why I think Ginny is an awesome politician is because she is the best mum and an amazing MP.

While you have been a politician what has been your biggest highlight and goal for your community in the past three years?

She said one of her biggest highlights has been the Lower Hutt mental health and maternity services. Because these are really important to her and her community she is also highlighting those because they are really important.

When you lost the electorate vote did you ever think you would give up?

She said she would never give up, This is something is so passionate about and she said I'll just give it one go. When she did she won the Hutt South seat, by 3,777 votes against Chris Bishop.

Ginny has shown that she cares a lot about the New Zealand Justice system, her dream portfolio role would be the Minister of Justice. As she would work really hard to get fewer people in prisons, and all that jazz. She told me that her dream for Hutt South is to be the best MP she can be.

Thanks so much for reading my blog post! As always have a grand evening, day, night. My next post will be about the referendums.
