Hey guys so sorry this blog post took forrrrverrrr I’ve been really busy with Christmas, New Years', and moving houses.
A couple of weeks ago I was so lucky to sit with David Seymour and Brooke Van Velden, The Act party leaders. I thought it would be really important to talk to them about why they became an MP, I also wanted to talk about their result in the election. I asked all different kinds of questions.

Overall the interview was really good, Apart from when David Seymour was on his phone the whole time
David and Brooke really talked about their passions for the Act party, Brooke started off by telling me that one of her aspirations was to become a surgeon so she studied Bio-Med then changed her paths completely and said she wanted to go down the paths of economics. David had an interesting answer as normal by saying he wants to be like Mark Knopflef so he picked up a guitar then realised that it wouldn’t happen so he went and joined the rugby team then realised that he wasn’t good at that so went to become an engineer.
Along with many New Zealanders, they were shocked by the election result. David Seymour had been alone for the past couple of years. It would be quite nice for him to have some friends after being in parliament for many years alone. They said that their goal for 2021 as well as the parliamentary term would be to hold the government to account and pull them up on their mistakes. They also want to continue to stick to their act party politics and bring them to the 2023 campaign.
Speaking of the campaign I asked them what their highlights of the campaign were - for it being Brookes’s first Act Party campaign being the deputy leader she really enjoyed talking to people, learning about their problems, and showing them how the Act Party can help them. For David his biggest highlight was jumping out of the plane, he really enjoyed not having the media around he just enjoyed being in the moment. They have really enjoyed campaigning and are looking forward to the next parliamentary term.
Now as most of you asked - What was David's favourite part of dancing with the stars. He said he loved New Zealand even though he couldn’t dance he always had New Zealand’s back. He really enjoyed dancing with the stars!
Thank you guys for reading this blog post have an amazing week! Next week’s blog post will be about my interview with the one and only doctor Shane Reti, to talk about what it is really like working with crusher Collins, what MP that’s not from his party he would swap a day with.
Byeeeee!
